Westerns

In the good deeds department - at least I hope it will be - I'm involved with the organization of a minor film festival. Although the primary focus will be on films made in Arizona, we may be tackling the general subject of western movies.

It has been a great excuse to jot down favorite films and an opportunity to learn of some great ones that I've never seen. One book that has been extremely helpful is Cinema Southwest by John A. Murray.

As for the films, one odd favorite of mine is The Ballad of Cable Hogue.

Any other nominees that you'd like to see in a western film festival?

    Not a huge western fan - but some have stuck in my memory. Once Upon A Time in the West, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Shane, The Quick & the Dead, The Wild Bunch, and most recently, 3:10 to Yuma.
    And let's not forget, Blazing Saddles!

    Jeff,

    I'd love to get the opening credits of "Blazing Saddles" up on the screen just to see the expressions on the faces of some of the audience members!
