The Happy Employee, a blog about HR, has issued a challenge. Assume that Human Resources disappeared. When executives meet six months later and review the world without HR, what would they say they missed?
HR fills three main roles: clerk, cop, and consultant. Too many HR departments play cop and too few of them play consultant, but all of them play clerk. Given that, I suspect that the executives would groan about the increased clerical workload.
And that's pretty sad because it would indicate that HR has failed to communicate its true worth.
Michael, thanks for playing along!
