Small Change

Classic formula for improvement: Pick out one small way in which you could improve your life. Put the change into action every day for three weeks. Review the effects.

Several weeks ago - with rare exceptions for special events such as portions of the World Series - I stopped watching television.

Certain benefits were expected but the results have been surprising. It is as if I've been given an extra day each week. I've always read a great deal and now I'm reading more books than ever. There's also more time to read newspapers and magazines. [An added benefit is a reduced exposure to the talking heads who irritate more than they illuminate.]

Small change. Major improvement.
