If you could have a dinner and an evening's conversation with any two presidents, living or dead, it is unlikely that you would choose James Buchanan and Warren Harding.
I wonder how many people would choose anyone other than Washington and Lincoln.
They are the gold standard for a simple reason: merit.
Actually I wouldn’t want to use the opportunity to talk to any two presidents to talk to either Washington or Lincoln. I think they’ve been written about and analyzed so much that I wouldn’t learn a great deal. So my pick would be Andrew Jackson and Dwight Eisenhower. I have many things I want to ask either or both, but I would really like to hear what they say to each other.
ReplyDeleteWally,
ReplyDeleteGood choices.
I've read a lot about Lincoln and Washington but still feel the two - especially Washington - have yet to be well described.
