I had shpilkes from the moment I woke up. Then again, I always have shpilkes - Yiddish for "pins and needles." My kids have always teased me about this, accusing me of living in a perpetual state of restlessness. "Perma-shpilkes," they call it. If ever there was a day for perma-shpilkes, it was February 2, 1996, the day I was waiting for the biggest deal of my life to go through.
