I have long practiced these same rules which have rewarded me with a great deal of success but I am amused because if I've ever had advice from a line manager, it has been to "speak up more in meetings". I feel somewhat vindicated that my more considered participation in meetings (vs broadcasting for the broadcasting's sake) is shared by others.
