Some Traveling Music

Sometimes, you have to move away in order to move up.

That's the take in this CareerJournal article.

I conducted an EEO audit several years ago in a small, isolated town. One of the employees I interviewed declared, "I grew up here and I plan on dying here."

I stared at him and thought, "In the name of God, why? Even if you want to return, wouldn't the perspective gained by living in another place be beneficial?"

So it goes with careers. The person who stays put physically often does so mentally.
