Prisoner Ethics

Rod Dreher explores the ethics of the two Fox journalists who "converted" to Islam in order to escape from the terrorists.

Should they have refused to convert, even if it was obviously made under duress and was not sincere?

I can see both sides on this one and can understand the view that if you did decide to renounce your faith under those circumstances, it should not be a point of pride. Given the current struggle, is easy conversion itself unethical because it serves to increase the contempt and arrogance that our enemy holds for us? Or does the easy conversion instead declare that the Islamo-fascists are so contemptible that any actions taken to escape them should be given no weight?

Difficult issues.
