Three Legged Chair gives tips on how to send an e-mail:

6. Following steps 1-3, write message to wife in apology for the mix-up, mentioning that “Charlene means nothing to me. She’s just a colleague at work. Besides, you’re the only one for me.” Put smiley face at end of message for good measure.

7. Hit “Send.”

8. Remember that original e-mail was intended for Tricia, not Charlene.
