I'm with you on the movie for the first 1 hour 40 minutes. Then.....it's too much Bollywood for me. Danny Boyle's direction is exquisite and the cinemaphotography is such that if you want to see the film, you shouldn't wait until it comes out on DVD. The opening scene is incredible.
In the end, though, the movie's a love story that I found a bit too sappy. An alternate ending, more in tune to the depressive overtones of the rest of the movie, would have been a better fit, IMHO.
For those not familiar with Danny Boyle's films, 28 Days Later is worth the watch.
The end of Slumdog Millionaire is classic Bollywood but it worked for me, especially after the overtones of the rest of the movie. There were so many moments when I was thinking, "This is what film making should be."
