Greatness: Well-Deserved



All of us have changing expectations and tastes. We see a film that we once thought was extraordinary and begin to cringe.

But then there are the individuals and works that, if anything, become more appreciated with the passage of time. I was reminded of this the other night while re-reading Dickens's "A Christmas Carol." It was even better than I remembered.

John Lahr once said that fathers become clearer with distance. Over the years, which individuals and works have risen - or have maintained an already high status - for you?
