We like to pretend that:

- Plans harm creativity
- Underdogs are always deserving
- Institutions are loyal
- Experience is a minor part of competence
- Intuition is irrational
- We can frequently beat the odds
- Appearance doesn't matter
- Being true to our inner self means we'll be better
- Other people have fewer problems
