Slow Down
I've written here earlier about the advantages of moving slowly. The virtues of slowness are good to consider in a world of speed where fast is soon considered snail-like. [We groan about how long it takes us to fly from New York to L.A. Try explaining that to your great grandparents.]
One advantage that deserves emphasis is the appreciation of the action itself. If you slowly make a cup of coffee, you appreciate the process. If you slowly read a paragraph, you can savor the words.
We marvel at the beautiful handwriting of our ancestors. To be sure, a "fine hand" was extolled and expected in those days but another reason may be that they took the time to make the letter of each word just right.
