How Many Would Get Past HR?
Lincoln, Thatcher, Gandhi, Wellington, De Gaulle, Churchill, Juarez, Adams, Henry II, MacArthur, Pasteur, Patton, Keller, Coolidge, Napoleon, Elizabeth I, Truman, Schweitzer, Mandela, Champlain, Einstein, Jagger, Sadat, Grant, Columbus, etc.
As a crusty old HR Manager, I must say: How true. Sad, but true.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your blog and I tune in every day for a daily dose of wisdom and common sense. It's a bit like mental floss. Keep it up!
Thanks for your comments and your visits.
ReplyDeleteI've found that wisdom often accompanies "crusty."

What a great list.
ReplyDeleteCoolidge - a Vermont rustic with no family connections (grew up two villages over from me, I should know)
Churchill - A depressive whisky gargler with an American mother
Jagger - Rock and roll gods do not start at the London School of Economics, thank you very much
Grant - A drunk and a failure.
Napoleon - An extremely short Corsican - not even French! - who refused to pick sides during the Revolution and who the real Paris elite mocked mercilessly, including his future wife Josephine, who married him as a joke, intending to carry on with old lovers.
You never can tell.
Eric,
ReplyDeleteGreat descriptions.
You can imagine the scores from an oral board.
