Okay, let's delve into controversy. If you could watch only five Christmas films, what would they be?
My choices:
- The Bishop's Wife (with Cary Grant, David Niven, Loretta Young, and the great Monty Woolley)
- A Christmas Story (the Jean Shepherd tale with the best depiction of a father in film)
- Home Alone (with home defense and The Kenosha Kickers)
- A Christmas Carol (I like almost all of the versions but the George C. Scott one is my favorite)
- The Nightmare Before Christmas (for its creativity and music)
+ Christmas Vacation (Chevy Chase)
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteThis may flip some people out but I have never seen that film. I hear it is very good.
Michael
Wow. I'm flipped.:). Not sure I would categorize it as very good, but certainly a classic, in the broadest definition of the term.
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely in a minority on that film.
Michael
Die Hard
ReplyDeleteDie Hard 2
Lethal Weapon
Diner
White Christmas
Scrooged. Plus Die Hard.
ReplyDeleteKurt and Larry,
ReplyDeleteMost of those are definitely in the unconventional range but you can only watch "It's a Wonderful Life" so many times.
