New Glasses

"Do you see it? Up in the sky. Do you see the pie?"

I get my new glasses today and am praying that the prescription works. The old prescription presented problems while I'm reading. Since I've been known to wolf down a book or two, that produced no small amount of frustration. There have been times when I've taken off my glasses and held the book to my face which is more old school than I prefer. The technique also doesn't work well with computer screens.

Fingers crossed.

I've come up with a solution that works for me. I have bifocals; in fact, I have two pairs. One pair is my long-range pair adjusted for distance and mid-range. The other pair is mid-range and short-range for computer and reading work. I swap as needed. I've used this arrangement for quite a while, and recently I needed to renew. The eye doc checked the prescription and made new glasses, but they didn't work well at first. The field of vision was good directly ahead, but it was blurry if I tried to employ eye movements or peripheral vision. Talking with the doc, it turns out that new materials, while lighter, are also not as easy to grind as well as glass. Since I like clear peripheral vision and didn't care about the few grams of weight that was the big selling point, I went old school and got glass. My long-winded point is that if you aren't getting the clarity you needed, ask about glass lenses. Worked for me.

Good luck with the new eyes.

Larry,

Thanks for the tip.

So far the new glasses are working out but I'll keep your approach in mind.
