Let's admit it, There are some films that are unusual and some are so bad that they are good. Here is a partial list and yes, some of these are genuinely good. You'll spot them. Please feel free to submit suggestions or to make confessions.
- "Waterworld" [Because Dennis Hopper was a great villain]
- "Under Siege" [Because Tommy Lee Jones was a great villain]
- "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" [Because Alan Rickman was a great villain]
- "The Boys from Brazil" [Gregory Peck overacts and still we watch]
- "Smokey and The Bandit" [Jackie Gleason as a cop and Burt as Burt]
- "Tremors" [Someone was once influenced by "Dune"]
- "Smile" [Because Bruce Dern was never better]
- "Something Wild" [Melanie Griffith as the ultimate wild thing]
- "Office Space" [Where is your red stapler?]
- "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" [Some think it is great]
- "The Fifth Element" [Gary Oldman as villain; Milla Jovovich as scene-stealer]
- "Critters" [A good film pretending to be a bad one]
- "The Mummy Returns" [Mindless but everyone needs a mummy movie]
- "Delicatessen" [A French film unlike any other]
- "Local Hero" [Truly a treat]
The Fifth Element is a guilty pleasure of mine.
ReplyDeleteSteve,
ReplyDeleteThat is one bizarre film. Bizarre and fun.
Michael
Call me silly but I loved Home Alone specifically for Daniel Stern's performance in trying to negotiate ice-covered steps leading to the basement door. Pure, expertly-executed slapstick. The crow bar was the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteCrusty,
ReplyDeleteI love Home Alone for that scene and several others. They paid attention to the details and the crow bar is an excellent example.
And let's not forget The Kenosha Kickers.
Great stuff.
Thanks!
Michael
