"Being so long in the lowest form, I gained an immense advantage over the cleverer boys. I got into my bones the essential structure of the basic British sentence, which is a noble thing. Naturally, I am in favor of teaching boys English, and then I would allow the clever ones to learn Latin as an honor, and Greek as a treat."
- Winston Churchill
Taking two years of Latin and French in high school was two of the best things I ever did. Helps understand English even better which is a good thing for any wannabe writer.
ReplyDeleteJean,
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever met anyone who regretted taking Latin. The French I've taken certainly helped me.
Greek is still on my horizon
