Is Old Spice Reassuring?

Old Spice is trying to be New Spice in a sultry and - office alert: noisy - ad.

Remember Oldsmobiles? They were actually pretty good cars but their marketing people had a tough time reaching younger buyers with the word "old" lurking in the product's name.

My theory: The Old Spice marketing wizards know that they will only be partially successful luring young guys to the product. What they really want to do is reassure older men that using Old Spice is young and hip.
