Trip Thoughts

Back from teaching ethical decision making to a great bunch of people.

On the drive in last night, I got to watch moonlight over the desert hills. Absolutely stunning. A reminder to turn off the CDs and just observe.

Part of my route was through what had been a major campaign area in the long battle between General George Crook and Geronimo. We now zip over mountains that once had to be carefully and slowly approached on horseback. Leather creaked, sabers rattled, and anyone with an ounce of caution would have realized just how much noise is made by a large group of men and horses. The Apaches, of course, knew the terrain and - Hollywood images aside - often moved silently about without horses. It wasn't until the Army began using Apache scouts that significant success emerged.

Odd thoughts. Beautiful country.

And now to meetings. Postings coming.
