Feeble Excuses

What you may hear in an organization when proposing to remove an incompetent executive:

"He looks and sounds the part. Perhaps the performance will eventually match the words."

"Have you noticed how persuasive she is in meetings?"

"How can we know for sure that a replacement would do any better?"

"I realize he looks bad now, but let's give him more time."

"Sure she's not that great, but she was our choice and we have to stick with her."

"Oh yes. Thoroughly out of his depth, but I don't like his critics."

"The stuff she has done has not really made things better, but at least she's done something."

"How will removing him reflect on us? Won't it make us look bad?"
