As events unfold, it will be interesting to see if the election of Lopez Obrador as president of Mexico indirectly strengthens the argument for a border wall.
I know of one security analysis written several years back which had the scenario of a major epidemic driving people northward for health care. I've yet to see the press mention the potential for crisis-sparked immigration. That doesn't fit in with their "Wall bad" theme.
What will be heard in the months ahead is an obvious question: What if Mexico becomes another Venezuela?
Let's hope that Lopez Obrador doesn't go that route and instead turns into a great success.
