A Medical Morning

I'm fending off whatever evil bug has grounded my wife for over a week. She's still shuffling around and gets excited whenever something resembling consciousness returns. Last night I went to the drugstore to renew her medicine and the drive-through line wrapped around the corner.

I parked and went into the store. The pharmacy people were jumping around, filling orders and maintaining an impressive amount of patience and courtesy. The pharmacist explained that my wife's medicine - a form of mega-cough syrup - would make her drowsy and so she shouldn't drive. All of which, of course, is fine since she's not going near a car and anything which keeps her from hacking through the night sounds marvelous. Can I take a swig?

Anyway, this has been record-breaking in terms of Wade family illnesses which seem to take forever to clear up. I'm washing my hands more than an Intensive Care nurse and may have to make another Kleenex run. If this isn't the flu, it is one small step short of it.

Be careful. Something is out there.
