One of the most valuable lessons I learned years ago was the benefit of having 20 to 30 minute visits with people who were important to my work but who were not seen on a regular basis.
It enabled us to get to know one another and share our concerns. Later on, when our job responsibilities crossed over some issue, those meetings helped to achieve a smooth resolution.
All in all, time very well spent.
