The Rainmaker and Friends

The lawyer mentioned that some others in the firm regarded the rainmaker as an overpaid goof- off. Eyes were rolled whenever they heard he was out on the golf course. "Again?" they'd ask. Few knew of the large amounts of legal business that those community benefit dinners and golf games produced.

The receptionist always made a favorable first impression. Friendliness combined with the ability to remember names and faces while juggling the ego demands of various executives is not that common, but they wouldn't raise her salary. "It's only a receptionist position," they'd say.

The secretaries complained about the management assistant who often arrived late in the mornings. They didn't see the late night and weekend meetings that were a standard part of the job.

It is a mystery how people who aren't in a position seem to know so much about its demands.

Why do so few see the bigger picture?

Is seeing the bigger picture an innate trait or a learned skill?

It's hard for those that see the bigger picture to understand those that don't and visa versa....

Envy is the enemy of many....
