Stop It

The late and great Peter Drucker (affectionately known as Peter the Druck by at least one consultant) recounted that whenever he visited a certain prominent client he never asked what the executive was doing. Instead, he asked about what the executive had stopped doing. It was Drucker's way of emphasizing the importance of priorities.

The ability to say no to good ideas is vital. The higher you get in an organization, the more you'll encounter worthwhile proposals. All of them cannot be done. You have neither the time nor the resources and if you try to do so you'll achieve little aside from frustrating your associates and trashing your reputation.

Now look back on the past three months. What have you stopped doing?
