I'm almost half-way through Jiri Weil's "Life with a Star" and have already found it to be one of the most powerful books I've ever read.
The unwritten question keeps arising - What would you have done? - as the main character seeks to navigate the madness of Nazi-occupied Prague. Most literature dealing with the Holocaust focuses on the camps. Weil's novel considers how oppressive life had become before the camps. This is a stunning piece of work that should be more widely read.
