When Do You Do Your Best Thinking?

I love the early morning. There is the freshness of the new day and the air is crisp.

But late at night is when I do my best thinking. That may be because the day's distractions have been put to rest. I don't have a "to do" list to inspire guilt or action. All movement is inward.

The prime time for action may not coincide with the best hour for thought.

My best thinking is always done when I occupy my mind with something else and let the problem percolate and a solution usually presents itself.

When I focus my attention on it I can then unravel the solution and logically consider the assumptions and implications of the solution, but I find that part of my mind is far better at that than it is at coming up with the solution in the first place. If the solution doesn't turn out to work I shove the problem back into the background once more.
