A Small Lesson in San Francisco

Several years ago, I was conducting a management workshop for a large law firm in San Francisco. The participants were bright and eager and the session was held in a spacious training room which provided a great and lofty view of the city.

At one point during the class, rain began to fall and the sophisticated San Franciscans, without exception, ran to the windows and cheered.

It was then I recalled that San Francisco had been going through a drought. The situation was even stranger because I'd flown in from Phoenix where the water supply was not a problem.

You can learn a great deal when you discover what gets people excited.
