In a recent coaching session, the topic of necessary weaknesses arose.
If you delegate responsibilities to people, they will make mistakes. Count on it. Some mistakes are unavoidable if they are to have sufficient freedom to make decisions. Many others can be avoided. Those are the ones to worry about.
Any system that is designed for people should carry that basic fact in mind. The procedures are not designed for machines. There will be blunders but there will also be brilliance.
