Every time I heard a depressing new statistic on the state of the Hispanic in the United States, every time I saw a new "Hispanics and poverty" headline, I got angry. "This makes no sense at all" I would shout. "How the hell do they gather this data anyway? They must be nuts!" People within earshot thought I was nuts the way I carried on.
