Look on the side of the computer. there is a button that says "On/Off" or similar words. Remove finger from book and place it on button. Press button and hold for 5 seconds. When power goes off, release button. Take a deep breath. Then, place finger on button again. Press button for two seconds. Let go of button. Wait 5 minutes for all of the Windows OS to reload. Enjoy.
No wonder your fans regard you as a techie guru. I'll have you know that the on/off button is on the top of my computer so that probably changes everything. I hit it with a hammer several times but that didn't solve the problem.
