Bad Decision Days

There are days when one of the worst things you can do is to make an important decision. If you are fortunate, you will sense the problem with your mood, perspective or energy level and buy some time to regroup. In most cases, this is possible. Some simple rules:

  • If you are tired, sleep on the decision.
  • If you are upset, give yourself time to calm down.
  • If you think a course of action is brilliant, take time to consider the downsides.
  • Be wary of artificial deadlines. They may be set by those who do not have your best interests in mind.
