We go in for annual physicals and for periodic dental check-ups. A management check-up makes equal sense. Performance evaluations often dance around the subject and are rushed, with both parties eager to get through the process.
More time is needed to sort out the real cause of many management challenges and a simple question, similar to the medical examples, should be asked: Isn't it better to catch and resolve problems while they are small?
