The Indirect Purpose

The staff meeting was not held to convey a particular message nor was it important that the team members know what the leader needed to know about what was going on in their respective areas.

Although never said, the main purpose of the meeting was a combination of indirect matters. It was important for them to hear and get to know one another, to note other priorities and see how the other team members surfaced issues and interacted with the boss, to get a sense of why those people held their jobs, and to understand how they might help one another in the future.
