The Other Side


A rough paraphrase of Miller's Rule: When someone is taking a position that seems unrealistic, you should try to imagine what reality would have to resemble in order for that position to make sense.

A variation: When an adversary seems to take a path that is guaranteed to lead to defeat, you should ask yourself if that battle is a diversion from one which you are unknowingly losing.
