Prospecting for Meaning
The most important message in a meeting may be what was not said. It may be that a certain person was willing to take the time to listen or that people had a chance to vent or to think out loud. It may have happened when Participant A caught a slight change in Participant G's position; a change that could signal agreement on another project. Much may be deduced from the lack of objections, some mild dissents or an executive's unwillingness to cloak boredom.
Amid a swirl of messages, the grand announcements may be the least important.
