When I was a home owner - which technically is still in effect until tomorrow morning - I always had trouble finding rulers to measure out the weed-wacker nylon line. Had to be about 9 feet of line but I could never find anything to measure it with. Found myself a thin wooden yardstick and screwed it down onto the top edge of my wooden workbench. Then I just pulled out the line from the spool, measured it against the ruler until I had the length I wanted. Necessity is still the mother-of-it-all... :)

Jeff,
I've seen that done.
A wise solution!
