Wanted: Ladies and Gentlemen

The Ritz-Carlton Hotels slogan: "We are Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen."

Nicely put.

We need to get back to the concept of ladies and gentlemen. It would certainly beat the louts, dudes, vandals, slobs, studs, and tramps categories which became so popular in the Sixties in a misguided drive to achieve equality by pulling standards down. 

Authenticity, baby! Tell it like it is.

The problem is society needs a nudge toward telling it as it should be. If we shape our conduct to the way the world is, we will have a very low standard indeed and a population trapped in a tawdry adolescence.

Ladies and gentlemen are not perfect but they strive for and provide a higher standard. They make life better.

We need more of them.
