Shelter from the Storm

I've recommended this form of stress reduction before but it is worth another mention. My wife and I found refuge from the recent political campaign by watching all of the episodes of Agatha Christie's series on Hercule Poirot, The casting is excellent, the performances are memorable, and the plots transport you to another time.

Another source of escape was the "Endeavour" series which focuses on the post-WWII years of the irascible Inspector Morse. It is also excellent although Poirot remains the gold standard.

I am a presidential politics-junkie but the journalism this year was so poor that it was nice to travel to another time.

Indeed, the David Suchet Poirot is so good, it makes the books more enjoyable. I'm a huge fan and the only thing I find wrong with the series is they're over. They've filmed ever story Poirot has appeared in written by Christie, and I've watched them all, most multiple times.

Daniel,

One of the great aspects of the series is the performances are so enjoyable they can be watched multiple times. The body language alone is worth studying.
