I will draft a report and then redraft it several times, neglect the work, and then send it out for comments from others before studying the damned thing again. There is no reluctance to slash what once were favorite passages and through draft after draft the goal is to transform what can be complicated into something which is clear and persuasive.
If it doesn't feel right, it isn't right.
