If in Doubt

A large number of books covering the walls of a room with an old double door
You know the old rule about whether to keep papers: "If in doubt, throw it out."

Many of us do the opposite. If there is an outside chance that the paper might be needed, we hang on to it.

Bad move.

But here's a compromise. If you have some doubt but it is the sort of document that could possibly serve to spark thoughts on similar projects, then....

No.  Nice try. Throw it out.

And the beauty of throwing it out is that once it is gone, the debate has ended.

There might be regret but there will be no debate.
