Sometimes it is not a matter of "No pain, no gain. It is more a matter of "No pain, no pain."
An effort need not hurt in order to be effective or wise and the person who works the hardest may not be working the smartest. Consider the people you've known who boasted about how hard they worked. In my own experience, not one of them would be close to being a top performer.
If pain is always needed, something may be wrong.
We all know that and yet think of how easily we slip back into the notion that if there were no pain or sacrifice, something wasn't earned.
