GrannyPod?

When it comes to housing the elderly, I am not sure about this "GrannyPod" featured at FutureLawyer, but it does look like a great hideaway for a writer.

A bit pricey though.

Plain Language

One of my current consulting projects involves translating technical policies into plain language. I meet with a highly skilled team and ask a lot of "dumb" questions meant to illuminate just what they really want to say.

It's interesting how often that process reveals differences of opinion on the meaning of various policies; differences that had been hidden by vague, bureaucratic, language. Jargon also plays a role.

Every time the illumination happens, a small thrill occurs as people realize they've been saying the same thing for a very long time and meaning something very different.

Another small victory in the long battle to communicate.

Easy Surrender

"Couldn't get it done."
"Why not?"
"Because of the interruptions."
"What did you do to stop the interruptions?"
"Nothing. Nothing would have worked."
"But did you try anything?"
"No, because I knew they wouldn't have worked."
"If you knew that getting it done would have resulted in your receiving a huge amount of money, would you have gotten it done?"
"Sure."

Quote of the Day

Every day, every week, every month, every year, get rid of 'the crap.' Simplify your clutter, simplify your finances, simplify the way you travel, simplify the number of remote controls that you have around. Get rid of the fresh pasta-making machine which you never use. Chaos brings us down. We are simple creatures. We crave simplicity in these busy lives we live.

No Heresy

I do not know the theological basis for a chocolate Easter rabbit but will assume it is sound.
