Secret Ballots in Personnel Selections

Workplace Prof Blog examines an article on the use of a secret ballot in law school faculty personnel selections.

My take: I don't like secret ballots. I want to know who voted which way. If you serve on a selection committee, you should have the courage to state your position and the integrity to change your mind if others are more persuasive. As an old EEO officer, I'd also be very worried about a process that can hide illegal discrimination.

The negatives of a secret ballot outweigh its advantages.
