Testing the Waters

These tips on how a job hunter can determine the culture of an organization are fine and yet far from being fool or rat-proof.

Having your antennae out to pick up vibrations from the people you encounter may be the best approach. Seeing your actual work area is also helpful.

Unfortunately, some organizations intentionally present one face to applicants. [I heard of one company that went in the other direction. They would tell applicants that the work environment was insensitive and demanding and that most employees left after a few years, but that those employees left with a bunch of money because the company paid far more than its competitors.]
