Too Much Information?

This post from Monster Blog on how much personal information should be shared at work addresses one of those "thought about but seldom discussed" topics.

The rule of thumb is simple:

Tell people enough to assure them that you are human, but not so much that they conclude you are weird.

Be wary of disclosing any information that you would not want to see in the newspaper.

Lean toward nondisclosure, but don't shut the door entirely.

Show greater interest in others than in yourself.

Don't hold yourself to an impossible standard. Most of us disclose too much or too little.
