Another Airline Incident: 1999

The suspicious incident involving the imams evokes memories of another case that took place in Arizona prior to the 9/11 attacks.

Here's the 1999 report from the Phoenix Business Journal:

Two University of Arizona college students detained by the FBI Nov. 19 may file a lawsuit against America West Airlines (NYSE:AWA). They were held and questioned by the FBI after an airline pilot aboard America West Flight 90 from Phoenix to Columbus said they were "suspicious." One of the men was accused of jiggling the cockpit door while looking for a restroom on the plane. No charges were filed against the pair, who contend they were detained because they are Saudi Arabian. The Council of American-Islamic Relations is encouraging American Muslims and Arab-Americans to boycott the airline until the issue is resolved.
