It's the time of the year when employers review policies regarding drinking at holiday parties. CareerJournal gives a nice overview but I'll boil the guidance down to two observations:
1. Getting blind drunk or even comfortably high at the company party is dumb. (Many a career has been ruined by indiscreet remarks or behavior.)
2. Letting your employees get blitzed at a company event before they weave out onto the highway is even dumber.
If you or your employees are going to get drunk in a manner related to work, let it be done the traditional way: At home in the kitchen while staring at the frozen turkey that was given instead of a bonus.
