Off-Hand

A few words were spoken at the meeting that no one but Ted noticed because, after all, a lot was said, but for Ted those were enough to alter his view of the speakers because although the remarks were casually made they told him more about the individuals than years of work and later he'd reflect that the words could not have had greater impact if they'd been shouted through a loudspeaker and people were ordered to underline each one.
